Robert was born into an orthodox Amish community in 1947. Raised on a small dairy farm, he learned early, the simple but important values of accountability, responsibility and work ethic. He also developed a strong sense of fairness, honor and value for life.
He and his wife Sarah, have been married for 52 years. They have 11 children, of which 3 have preceded them into eternity. Robert & Sarah also have 30 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. One of their greatest joys is spending time with their expanding family.
Robert has lived a life of service in various capacities. He served as an ordained church Deacon, Treasurer and Chair on a private school board, member on the Board of Elders at his church, board member of a local volunteer fire department, precinct delegate for his County’s Republican Central Committee, and as an Election Day Table Judge. Robert was also a trained and licensed chaplain, serving the local hospital, fire department and community in that capacity for 15 years.
With their own journey through the deepest grief of losing children, Robert and Sarah carry an extraordinary capacity to empathize with people who are going through grief. Since losing their son John, Robert has a heart to see others helped who are simply trying to be a loving and responsible dad or mom to their kids. Robert’s passion today is first, to live a life in full service to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, then his family, and then his country.
